PDQ Selenium Breeder

PDQPDQ-Selenium Max Breeder Mineral is the most nutritionally advanced, bio-available mineral supplement for beef cattle made today. Selenium Max Breeder Mineral contains BIOPLEX® Quadra Formula & Sel-Plex® selenium yeast, organic sources of trace minerals that are more available to the cow. Selenium Max Breeder Mineral combines this new ingredient technology with proven performance of PDQ formulas to make the most effective mineral supplement on the market.

The Key, Absorption and Storage
As with the BIOPLEX® organic trace minerals, Sel-Plex® uses the same transport path as amino acids, actively absorbed in the intestines. Inorganic sodium selenite is transformed by rumen microbes into a form not easily absorbed by the cow and stored even less.
Once absorbed, the selenium is stored by the cow in tissue proteins. This is more effective because of the similarities in the selenium source and amino acids.

The Importance
Optimal tissue reserves of selenium and other trace minerals are critical for reproduction and immune response. At calving, nutrients are transferred to the fetus, then to colostrum and milk. This draining of nutrients seriously impacts the cow’s disease resistance and reproductive success during the next cycle.

Optimal selenium status in the cow also impacts fetal development and calf health as both rely on selenium transfer for growth performance and immune function. Supplementing cows with organic selenium and other trace elements in Selenium Max Breeder Mineral provide a useful supply essential minerals including selenium necessary for transfer to the developing fetus, and later in milk proteins to growing calves.
