The Key, Absorption and Storage
As with the BIOPLEX® organic trace minerals, Sel-Plex® uses the same transport path as amino acids, actively absorbed in the intestines. Inorganic sodium selenite is transformed by rumen microbes into a form not easily absorbed by the cow and stored even less.
Once absorbed, the selenium is stored by the cow in tissue proteins. This is more effective because of the similarities in the selenium source and amino acids.
The Importance
Optimal tissue reserves of selenium and other trace minerals are critical for reproduction and immune response. At calving, nutrients are transferred to the fetus, then to colostrum and milk. This draining of nutrients seriously impacts the cow’s disease resistance and reproductive success during the next cycle.

FEEDING
PDQ BREEDER MINERAL is designed to be fed free-choice. Normal consumption rates for mature cattle on adequate pasture is two (2) to four (4) ounces per head daily. Remove other salt sources.
